Whether it's an anniversary, or just a little treat, I've got something that you won't be disappointed with. It's the Watermelon and Strawberry cake from Black Star Pastry. Why? It's because the cake is almost all the bits you can ask for in a cake - the softness of the cream, the crunchy texture of the crust bottom, the refreshing flavour of the watermelon, the sweet strawberry that is coasted in jelly jam, and the petal of flowers that blasts even more aroma.
Black star pastry has its main store in Newtown, not too far from Newtown station. It is a tiny little store that is very picturesque on a bright sunny day. Black Star Pastry offers other kinds of cakes as well, but by far the most popular one is this watermelon and strawberry cake. If you are looking into trying on of these, you will definitely need to make a pre-order online a day before by the latest.
For a 4 portion size (just right to share between two in my opinion) will set you $29. Whilst it may seem a little above what you would like to spend on a cake, it is absolutely worth every dollar - you just have to take my word for it!
Black Star Pastry has recently opened another store in Town Hall, right inside the Kinokiniya bookstore. Though it's a little small, it's a very cute hang out for a fancy afternoon tea. Black Star Pastry will also be joining the dozens of stores in the Sydney Night Noodle Markets this coming October, and has announced a collaboration with the popular N2 Extreme Gelato store too.
